Frequently Asked Questions

What is Urgent Care?

Urgent care is for when your pet need medical attention for an illness or injury that can be managed without a trip to the emergency department, but cannot wait for a regular appointment with your general practice vet. â€‹

Do I need to make an appointment?

No, there is no need to make an appointment. You are more than welcome to call to let us know you are on your way to the clinic, however this is not a requirement. We operate on a first come, first serve basis, so you will be seen in the order in which you have arrived.

If you would like to make check in quicker, we can email you our new client form prior to arrival.

What hours are you open?

We are open Monday to Friday (excluding Wednesday), from 7pm til midnight, Wednesday 8:30pm til midnight and Saturday and Sunday 1pm til 6pm.

We’re also open extended hours on public holidays. Check our Google profile or social media for updates.

We’ve chosen these hours based on experience, as they tend to have the longest emergency wait times, and we aim to provide an alternate solution.

What is the average wait time?

Our average wait time is under 30 minutes, with most patients seen within 15 minutes of arrival.

What if my pet requires hospitalisation or advanced care?

If your pet is diagnosed with a condition requiring hospitalisation or advanced critical care, our team will discuss the available options tailored to your pet’s needs and your financial means. These options may include transfer to your primary care veterinarian the next day, immediate transfer to a 24-hour emergency hospital, or palliative care.

Will my regular vet be informed of my visit?

When you arrive, we’ll collect your and your pet’s details, including your preferred daytime vet practice. We understand how important your regular vet is to your pet’s ongoing care, so patient histories are finalised on the day of treatment and sent to your regular vet before they open the next morning.

What if my pet is anxious or reactive?

Our team is dedicated to making your pets visit as stress free as possible. We use techniques such as low stress handling, calming music, pheromones and unlimited snacks to help your pet feel comfortable. If needed, we can also utilise medications to help ease your pets discomfort in the practice.

What are my payment options?

We work with you to offer multiple treatment options to suit your individual situation. We understand that emergency vet bills can be an unexpected expense. Whilst we aim to make after hours vet care as accessible as possible for when your pet needs us, we have partnered with the following payment providers to further ease the burden of an unexpected visit.
